Essential for growth and repair of tissues in all parts of your body, Vitamin C is one of the most important vitamins that you would need. Not many people know that vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, meaning that your body doesn’t store it. We get what we need, instead, from food. Because of this, many people are in fact mildly deficient in Vitamin C. Low levels of Vitamin C have been associated with a number of conditions including high blood pressure, gallbladder disease, stroke, some cancers, and atherosclorosis (the build-up plaque in blood vessels that can lead to heart attack and stroke). Getting enough Vitamin C in your diet by eating lots of fruit and vegetables may help reduce the risk of developing some of these conditions. To augment your diet, you can take Vitamin C supplements.
Benefits of PureandHealthy Vitamin C with Acerola Cherries
Are you taking real vitamin C?
Did you know that a great majority of vitamin C supplements on the market are synthetic forms of vitamin C? Most vitamin C and multivitamin supplements contain ascorbic acid or ascorbate. These laboratory-produced ingredients like ascorbic acid are NOT natural C complex vitamin and far from it. They are usually chemically synthesized molecules manufactured in a test tube and are often made from genetically modified corn sugar.
Acerola Cherries are one of the richest natural sources of Vitamin C – higher than citrus fruits. Acerola contains from 1% to 4.5% vitamin C (1000 to 4500 mg/100 g) as ascorbic and dehydroascorbic acids in the edible portion of the fruit. This far exceed the content of Vitamin C in peeled oranges (about 0.05% or 50 mg/10g). In addition, acerola contains about the same amount of vitamin A as carrots as well as thiamine, riboflavin, and niacin.
Our Vitamin C with Acerola Cherries product contains the highest quality acerola cherries available, which makes it one of nature’s most concentrated food sources of real vitamin C.

Vitamin C Benefits:
Vitamin C is an essential nutrient that is widely known in the medical world to have properties that help combat allergies, infections and viruses, as well as give the immune system a boost. Vitamin C has also been found to have antioxidant properties which help protect the body from chronic diseases by neutralizing free radical damage.
It is water-soluble vitamin that is essential for the body's normal growth and development. Possibly the most prominent among all of the nutritional supplements, numerous studies have been made to shed light on this vitamin's potential health benefits. It has been found to work with other nutrients to build body tissue, increase the body's absorption rate of iron, promote capillary strength and possible reduce the severity of the common cold. Vitamin C is also vital in the formation of collagen, which is a structural component of blood vessels, tendons, ligaments and bone.
Although widely thought of as ascorbic, vitamin C is in fact purely the L-enantiomer (or L-ascorbic acid) of ascorbate. This means that it is just one side of a "mirror image" of the same molecular structure; in this case, ascorbate. The other side is called the D-enantiomer (or D-ascorbic acid), which has been found to have no physiological significance.
The health benefits of vitamin C as we know them now are the ones that L-ascorbic acid possesses. Together with flavonoids, polyphenolics and water insoluble compounds like alpha-tocopherol or vitamin E, L-ascorbic acid contributes to free radical scavenging in the human diet. On the other hand, studies have cited that D-ascorbic has no biological activity and is consistently less effective than L-ascorbic acid over a wide range of concentration.
Since it is a water-soluble vitamin, vitamin C is easily dissolved in water. This means that it is easily excreted by the body through urine. Therefore, a continuous supply of vitamin C is needed in your diet, a reliable source of which is nutritional supplements.
A study published in The Journal of Nutrition compared the bioavailabilty of ascorbic acid in different sources: oranges, otange juice, cooked broccoli and ascorbic acid tablets. It was found that "[a]scorbic acid ingested as cooked broccoli, orange juice or fruit, or in synthetic form seems to be equally bioavailable."
