Anti-Aging Resveratrol

PROTECTING THE PRIME OF OUR LIFE

The human body is built with a series of complex systems that work together so an individual can function well. However, as we age, the structures that hold our bodies together eventually weaken, our cells and tissues break down.

With so many advances in scientific study and so much free access to information, the one thing we must not do is to be crippled by the aging process and robbed of enjoying the prime of our lives. Research has brought to light natural compounds that can aid in keeping the body healthy and prolonging life, including powerful antioxidants
Anti-Aging Resveratrol, Vitamin C and Vitamin E and essential nutrients Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Calcium and Magnesium.

RESVERATROL

A naturally-occurring polyphenolic compound and a promising  supplement for anti-aging, resveratrol is reputed for its bounty of health benefits, including aiding weight loss, boosting the immune system, and protecting against heart disease and cancer. Extensive studies have shown that it also has antioxidant properties that neutralize free radical damage, rejuvenating the body and delaying the aging process. Resveratrol has also been found to have the ability to activate llife extension genes in the body, called sirtuins, which reduce cellular decay. Moreover, a study done by the National Institute on Aging, together with Harvard Medical School and several other research centers, found that resveratrol-fed mice showed marked reduction in signs of aging, a significant indication that may also yield positive effects on other vertebrates, like humans.

VITAMIN C

Vitamin C is arguably the most well-known amongst all the nutrients. After all, this water-soluble vitamin is reputed for its numerous health benefits, with extensive research that indicate its ability to combat viruses and diseases—from the simple common cold to the world’s leading cause of death, cancer.

Being water-soluble means that it dissolves easily in water and is easily excreted from the body even before the body can absorb its full benefits. As it cannot be readily stored, it is very important to maintain daily intake. Major sources of vitamin C are fruits like oranges, lemon and lime, among many others, and vegetables like pepper, potato and broccoli. Unfortunately, studies reveal that within the last 50 years, the nutritional value of fruits and vegetables has dramatically decreased. So the most effective way of obtaining a consistent intake of vitamin C is by taking health supplements.

antiaging-VitC.jpgAside from its many health benefits, another important role that vitamin C plays in the body is as an antioxidant. Being a powerful antioxidant, vitamin C protects the body tissues from free radical damage, which tampers with cell function and speeds up the aging process. Research shows that antioxidants, like vitamin C, are longevity-enhancing, anti-aging compounds. According to the Alliance for Aging Research, up to 1000 IU of vitamin C can be safely taken to benefit from its anti-aging properties. Other experts recommend 500 mg/day of intake and some go up to 1000 mg/day.

The US Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine has set the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of vitamin C to 90 mg/day for male adults, 75 mg/day for female adults, 85 mg/day for pregnant women over 18 years of age, and 120 mg/day for breastfeeding women over 18 years of age. These dosages have been the topic of much dispute in the scientific community—with most suggesting a higher dosage—but it all depends on an individual’s specific health concerns and needs. A higher or lower intake may be recommended to address particular health conditions. For such cases, it is best to consult your physician first. Although, it should be noted that in general, vitamin C is one of the safest supplements to take as long as you do not exceed the upper limit of intake (UL) set by the Institute of Medicine at 2,000 mg/day. Overdose in vitamin C has been known to cause gastrointestinal disturbances, like diarrhea and gastritis.

VITAMIN E

Being a powerful antioxidant, vitamin E effectively protects the body from damage done by free radicals. These free radicals are highly unstable, and if left unchecked, can disrupt cell function and cause damage to body tissues. This then speeds up the aging process.

While you cannot turn back the hands of time, research has found substances that are potentially anti-aging and can help slow down the effetcs of time so you can do more and enjoy more in life. Studies revealed that, coupled with regular exercise, vitamin E helped elderly individuals become healthier by neutralizing free radicals in their bodies. Vitamin E has also been found to have a protective effect against certain diseases associated with aging, including cancer and cardiovascular diseases. It also helps improve blood circulation and treat menopausal symptoms.

Unfortunately, the body cannot make its own vitamin E. Therefore, you need to obtain it from other sources. It is present in some food sources like whole grain products and nuts, but only in small amounts. The most effective way to get vitamin E is by taking health supplements.

The US Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for vitamin E is 15 mg/day (approximately 22 IU) for both adult men and women, including pregnant women. Generally, regular vitamin E intake is safe as long as it does not exceed the Institute of Medicine’s upper limit of intake (UL) set at 1500 IU or 1000 mg/day for men and women. People undergoing anticoagulant therapy (blood thinner), however, must have a doctor monitoring their vitamin E intake, as it may interfere with the therapy.

 VITAMIN B12

AntiagingVitB12.jpgMore than a cosmetic problem, aging impacts our lives because it forces us into a shift in lifestyle. Oftentimes, we have to give up some of the activities that we have always loved to do. As we age, our cells and body tissues begin to break down, eventually weakening us and making us susceptible to more infections and diseases. While aging cannot be reversed, some substances in nature have been found to have the ability to slow it down. Aside from anti-aging resveratrol, one promising substance is vitamin B12, which is primarily responsible for cell metabolism in our bodies.

Vitamin B12 plays a vital role in maintaining healthy nerve cells, sustaining red blood cells and promoting the proper function of DNA, the core genetic material in cells. Studies have also associated it with assisting the prevention of heart disease. This vitamin aids in increasing the body’s rate of metabolism, boosts the immune system, enhances the nervous system, and tones your muscles.

However, it is a water-soluble vitamin, which means that it is not stored by the body and instead, is excreted easily. Therefore, you need a continuous supply. The most effective way to obtain vitamin B12 to prolong lifespan and help you enjoy more out of life is by taking health supplements.

There are generally no problems associated with regular vitamin B12 intake, as it is safe and non-toxic. In fact, its upper limit of intake (UL) has not been determined due to lack of data of adverse effects. The current Recommended Dietary Allowance(RDA) according to the Food and Nutrition Board is 2.4 micrograms per day. As with any other supplement or medication, it is best to consult your doctor before taking anything.

VITAMIN D

As the body ages, the complex system that holds it together weakens, losing much of the natural resiliency of youth. Aside from our internal organs that benefit from anti-aging resveratrol and other vitamins, proper attention must also be given to our bones, which serve as the primary support structure of the body. Fortunately, there are nutrients that help the body to maintain bone health, like calcium, magnesium and vitamin D.

One of the biggest challenges that individuals in their prime have to face is osteoporosis, or the condition of thinning bone tissue and lowered bone density. This increases risks of fractures and incidence of chronic pains. But simply infusing  sufficient amounts of calcium into your diet can already do wonders in maximizing bone mass, preventing bone thinning and anti-aging in general. antiaging-VITDCAL.jpgIt is also involved in important body functions like nerve conduction, cell membrane function and enzyme activity regulation.

It’s not just calcium that maintains your bone health. Research done by the Department of Endocrinology of the Vrije Universiteit Medical Center in Amsterdam found that insufficient vitamin D prevented the absorption of intestinal calcium from being maximized. This causes an increased parathyroid secretion, which may lead to bone fractures.

Although the body benefits so much from it, the body cannot make its own calcium and vitamin D. Therefore, you need a daily supply of it and this is most effectively obtained by taking health supplements.

We suggest a dosage of two tablets in the morning and two tablets again in the evening to get the maximum benefits of these essential nutrients. In general, calcium, magnesium and vitamin D are well-tolerated by the body, but as with any other supplement or medication, consult your doctor first before taking anything.
