Anti Aging Health Supplement

Aging is much more than just a cosmetic problem. Anti-aging health supplements don't just deal with the fine lines, the wrinkles and the gray hair. More importantly, anti-aging hopes to address the changes that are happening inside the body. The human body ages as we age and even though the first signs of aging are seen on the external, more often than not, it is the changes happening internally that will make the biggest impact on your health and lifestyle.

As complex as the human body is, the body systems that enable it to function effectively eventually weaken with age. One major factor is damaged cell function, most of which are caused by free radicals. Free radicals are highly unstable molecules with extremely high chemical reactivity that inflict damage on cells. Since the generation of new cells is critical for the body to function normally, the cellular damage caused by free radicals contributes to weakened body functions and may even lead to chronic diseases like cancer and heart disease.

While science is yet to find feasible ways to reverse the aging process, and along with it, the damages to the body, research suggests that there may be ways to delay it. A particular topic that has drawn much interest are antioxidants like those found in Vitamin E anti-aging health supplements. Antioxidants are molecules that are capable of inhibiting the oxidation of other molecules. Since this process of oxidation can lead to the production of free radicals, by inhibiting them, antioxidants help protect the body from the potential harm that these molecules cause.

Based on recent studies, antioxidants also appear to have longevity-enhancing properties. A study published by The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition cites that “[i]n testing the hypothesis that antioxidants may represent LDGs [longevity determinant genes], a positive correlation in the tissue concentration of specific antioxidants with life span of mammals was found. These antioxidants include superoxide dismutase, carotenoids, alpha-tocopherol, and uric acid.”

One of the most recognized antioxidant is vitamin E, also known as alpha-tocopherol. A study cites that vitamin E has antioxidant properties that helped elderly individuals become healthier by neutralizing free radicals in their bodies. Researchers at the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California in Berkeley likewise sing vitamin E’s praises, stating that “[v]itamin E is well accepted as nature's most effective lipid-soluble, chain-breaking antioxidant, protecting cell membranes from peroxidative damage.”

Whether or not vitamin E anti-aging health supplements and other antioxidants like vitamin C and resveratrol are the modern-day fountains of youth is still subject to much debate among experts. For now, numerous studies seem to suggest that these essential nutrients and health supplements may have properties that can do more for the body than what modern medicine initially proclaimed. But since aging makes it difficult for the body to absorb all the essential nutrients it needs, anti-aging health supplements formulated for adults over 50 years of age can help fill in those nutritional gaps. An article published in CNN Health states that “[a]s we age, our bodies process nutrients less efficiently, resulting in the need for us to increase our nutrient intake.”  Vitamin E anti aging health supplements, antioxidants and other dietary supplements help promote overall health and immunity and ensure an adequate intake of nutrients that maintain the body’s main support systems.
